Not gonna lie, this costume idea has a combination of reasons for making an appearance on my month of masquerades. Aside from being simple - especially for me considering these are all items I've had in my closet from high school days - there aren't a whole lot of opportunities to wear these items out in public.
To top it off, this is the closest I can get to doing my "Nana Osaki Cosplay" without purchasing Vivienne Westwood jewelry (which I'd love, but lets get real, I just spent $200 on my barely functioning vehicle- expensive body adornments aren't make the "purchase" list at this point) or cutting/dyeing my hair to look more similar to hers.
But in a pinch, it's close enough, and people get the general idea of "punk" from it, character specific or not.
For my punk makeup, I was basing it off an already existing image. Nana's key features are her thin black eyebrows, purple eyeshadow, and red lipstick and nails (I may have used a red sharpie on my nails since I ran out of time to paint them before doing this look...)
The outfit I'm basing mine off consists of a t-shirt (hers is a band shirt, I happened to have this skull shirt that seemed to fit nicely), red plaid skirt, fishnet tights, leather jacket, and boots.
She also wears a dog collar, Vivenne Westwood armor ring, multiple sets of hoop earrings, and Vivienne Westwood earrings. As I mentioned before, I do not own any of the lovely Vivienne Westwood's collection, so I made do with what looks similar enough in my jewelry box.
So, if you're in a jam, you can always just revert to your high school stereotype for a costume-odds are you have at least one item left from those days...
Speaking of the old days.. in case you wanted to see pictures of how I looked in high school...
Stay tuned for more costume ideas and Halloween fun!
