You may remember a certain dress that blogger Playing Martha's Lauren borrowed when we dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland for our Halloween post (I've also used said dress for a photoshoot some time ago, when I was first starting out). The dress (and idea) has made a comeback in my life, and I was able to revisit these moments once again by using it for my own personal "Alice" shoot.
I've always had a fascination with Alice in Wonderland-I think it has to do with the idea of multiple worlds, and finding your way through them. Perhaps its the idea of the journey, and finding new aspects you never knew existed in yourself before, that without said journey, you still wouldn't know about. Whatever the case, it gave me a chance to play dress up in a dress my mom let me borrow when I was a kid (dress up win!).
I teamed up with Wicked Mojo Photography, who found us a beautiful location to work in. It was a bit chilly when first starting out, but that's what you get for shooting outdoors in November before the sun has chance to come out. Lucky for me, the dress is so long and full, I was able to wear leggings beneath it for just a little added coverage (having all that material and a corest on helps to hold the heat in too). We played around with a few different ideas, and both of us ended up climbing trees during the shoot (seemed like a good day to climb a tree or two...).
Oh, and I may have had a brief Cinderella moment (or two) and lost my shoe while running (that's what you get for running in shoes that are too big, so make sure to add shoe inserts for your own and any bystanders safety-take note Cinderella!).
By the end of the shoot the sun had finally come out, so we took some time to look around and enjoy the location we set up in. I had the chance to really appreciate the last bit of color hanging onto the trees in a serene environment.
I'm happy to say that I finally feel like I used this dress to its extent (after at least 3 photoshoots, and years of dress up as a kid-thanks again Mom!), but that's not to say this is the last you'll see of it...perhaps it will undergo a metamorphosis for another project in the near future...you never know...
Make sure to keep an eye on the gallery for images from this shoot!
