I've had a busy last few days, finishing things up at work before vacation, visiting with family, and setting dates to see old friends. But even with all of the hustle and bustle, I found myself really enjoying each moment.
It also helps that I can now share all these moments with photos taken on my new camera (call it a long awaited gift-to-self)! These images were taken while spending time with family on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
I went to two different places, but both were filled with delicious food, loving family, and much needed naps (and boy do I really love naps) by all (puppies included).
There are some things that make you slow down and take the time to really look around you. I'm learning that taking pictures has that benefit.
For example, my family always hangs mistletoe somewhere in the house in December, and while I never really noticed it before, taking a moment to stop and look at it through the lens made me appreciate the simple elegance of the smaller decorations.
It also allows me to show off the delicious desserts we consumed...
...before sugar-lows were hit and everyone was forced to nap.
But even those moments of dozing in and out of sleep were enjoyable under warm blankets, listening to family chatter and music playing softly in the background.
...it also doesn't hurt when cute faces like the ones above are ever prevalent, waiting to be played with and share their love...and half-eaten chew toys.
I know this was more of a personal post, but not to worry- I'll be back to crazy projects and fun tips soon enough. For now, I think I'll just curl up in front of the fireplace, and enjoy these moments a bit longer.
If you celebrated it, I hope you enjoyed the Holiday. Hard to believe we'll be celebrating the New Year in less than a week! Stay tuned for the last few posts of 2014!
