March 30th, I had the chance to work with Drea Designs Couture. Not only was this a phenomenal chance to work with someone who makes amazing outfits, but I was able to get one shoot in for March before the end of the month (sometimes it’s the little things...sometimes its a combination of little and HUGE things, like working with an entire group of ladies who know how to have a blast at a photoshoot)!
I learned a lot during this new experience, such as, always bring neutral underwear to a shoot-it can be a life saver. Especially when modeling things like swimsuits that may not fit perfectly, you’ll still feel covered and comfortable if anything moves out of place
I was also reminded of the things I want to work on to improve my own modeling, like my hands for example. I have long, slender fingers, and because of this, if I’m not careful, they can look claw like and especially pointy. I also tend to stick my pinky finger out for some strange reason (trying to keep it classy I guess) without realizing it.
I’ve started improving on remembering to move my feet more when changing poses, but I’ve noticed I don’t always give too much variation in my facial expressions. All these are things that can be worked on and improved during future shoots, but it’s good to recognize what areas one struggles with.
This was my first time working with Drea Designs Couture, and having the chance to wear her clothing was an honor. The first dress made me immediately think of Black Swan, and I loved the retro feel I got from the shorter dresses I modeled.
I also worked with Joanna (MUA) and Nancy (hairstylist) who are close friends outside of work. Listening to them joke back and forth while working made the experience a lot of fun, and time seemed to fly by...not to mention I felt like a totally different person after they finished my look!
And so I end this little "behind the scenes sneak peek" with a grand thank you to everyone involved in making this shoot happen, including my very own navigator/light-bouncer/shoe buckler/and-everything-else-we forced-you-to-help-with-assistant, Sam. Thank you for being a good sport and helping wherever needed (including taking the majority of BTS pictures on this post for me)!
Happy April everyone!
