This marks my first shoot since having my hair done by Tanya Amalfitano-and let me tell you, it turned out AWESOME. We came up with a new term for my hair-I've upgraded from sunset to "Volcano" hair (way more dangerous sounding). It's so versatile because of the colors that I was able to pin it up and go blonde without needing a wig! Yay options!
Aside from coming up with such a unique way of describing my hair, Wicked Mojo Photography was fantastic to work with. He's very friendly and easy going, which made going from one look to another stress-free and fun. We got along so well that I ended up sticking around after the shoot was over to chat about photography and different artists who inspire us.
This shoot actually helped me learn a bit more about myself and how I model. I'm usually the first one to suggest a high fashion, intense look, be it makeup or wardrobe, and I love doing all sorts of crazy expressions and poses-but when it comes to the more natural stuff, wearing less or no makeup, and just being myself, I find myself freezing up mentally. Its easier for me to portray someone else than it is to be myself. I suppose its the vulnerability factor and the chance that you're allowing others to see that side of you. I'd like to work on that more and learn how to let go and be ok with just being me.
We did a natural look before going with the crazier/edgier style, so I'm excited to share the images and see the contrast between my two sides.
I brought three outfits (which turned into four), and added a little more makeup with each look. By the end of it I had to make sure and wash my face before I left (I can just imagine going home, falling asleep instantly, and heading into work the next day without realizing what I still looked like if I hadn't) so I wouldn't scare people while driving...or mainly myself if I looked in the rear-view mirror...
I had such a blast during this shoot, I can't wait to do something with Wicked Mojo Photography again soon.
Make sure to check out his work, and keep and eye open for these images in the future!
*Sidenote: I may have attempted to make goggles for this shoot out of random items I was able to find an hour beforehand...needless to say they didn't turn out so well, didn't make it to the shoot. But they're good for a laugh if nothing else...*
