One of the more common themes found across most Holidays is the exchanging of gifts with friends and loved ones. I'll admit, I found a lot of the wrapping techniques and ideas to be very helpful this year, especially when I ran out of already decorated, store bought wrapping paper.
These were my personal favorites (it helps that they turned out semi-decently too):
Scraps of fabric:
While the Pinterest inspiration for this one used pastel fabrics and lace to create a bow, I followed the general idea with my own personal twist. I had some leftover scraps from my cat-woman costume that worked perfectly to wrap this small box. And rather than the normal bow, I thought something a bit more organic would make it special. I had some dried and faux plants from a basket bought for crafting, and this cranberry sprig went really well with the feel of the wrapping.
Oh, a little tip about wrapping with fabric: in my first attempt I used tape to wrap, which look terrible. A few dots of hot glue not only held the thicker fabric in place, but because it was on the underside, it didn't conflict with the textures already present.
I love the less is more idea, and seeing all the simply decorated gifts inspired me to pick up some neutral wrapping paper and challenge myself to use only what I found in my crafting bin to jazz it up.
It's amazing what a cinnamon stick with red string can do to brighten up a package, or a nicely tied bow.
This tiny package looked beautiful, and I loved that it's made out of a toilet paper roll. So easy to put together, but such a unique take on packaging! I always feel a little silly buying boxes to put items in, so props to the person who decided to look in their recycling bin for wrapping!
I'm pleased to say this was a Pinterest Success! I had a lot of fun trying new techniques to wrap gifts for my friends and family, and am feeling inspired to see what else I can create (or what else I can wrap...watch out, you may be next!).
What was your favorite wrapping technique? Do you have a standby you go to for your gifts?
It's hard to believe the end of the year is already next week! I can't wait to look back over this past year and share some of my favorite moments with everyone.
