Back in January (yes, JANUARY!) I was trying to set up a shoot with photographer Adam Avid Photography and stylist Loredana Sun - I worked with them last January in 2014 and not only did we have a blast, we created one of my favorite sets to date. Lory made this costume for me out of leftover fabric and random items in her closet over a simple dress I bought at the thrift store previous to our shoot. The shots in the snow were stunning.
Needless to say, I was ecstatic to be shooting with them again - but welcome to New England, where any plans you make need not one, not two, but three back up plans in case of 1-2 ft blizzards appearing suddenly. FINALLY, we were able to sneak in a shoot between snow storms (it still snowed on my way home that night mind you, just not a foot).
Lory is one part of the design team for a new Etsy shop "Wildlolita" which sells a combination of beautiful lace, and bold fun lingerie, and I was able to wear some of their work for our shoot!
Just getting there was half the battle - and I don't mean the drive, I mean the 10 minutes I went back and forth on their road trying to read house numbers hidden beyond 6 foot snow piles (I only passed their driveway four times before I found it).
The rest was a piece of cake (mmmmn cake) - Lory styled my hair and makeup while we chatted, and played with her lovable puppy (not really a puppy anymore, but you can't help but call him one with how excited he gets) and got glared at by the cat (I will get that cat's approval someday!).
Before I knew it the shoot was over, and I was back in my sweater and jeans (just not as sexy as black lace, but I suppose for venturing outside in the snow, pants are fairly important).
I now want to own all the lacy things Wild Lolita puts out. The best part is that they are handmade, so they're made for real people with real shapes (or sort of lack-of-shape on my part), so I felt very comfortable in these designs. I highly recommend checking out their shop and their Facebook page!
Even though we had to reschedule multiple times, it was worth it. I can't wait to see what else comes out of the shop, and hope to work with Lory and Adam more in the future (...and playing with their pets is a perk too)!
First shoot of 2015 - accomplished! Thanks again for the opportunity Wild Lolita, and for setting up the shoot Adam and Lory!
