The following was written to express thoughts I had while creating this set of images, and became a strange melding of poetry and stream of consciousness.
"Art doesn't need a purpose to be created, sometimes we just need to create Art.
That's how the idea for this conceptual shoot emerged. It is based on movement and light, the subtle shadows and highlights that dance within the frame.
The faces are no longer recognizable, the form blurred and melted, and the creature shifts into another sort of being.
The newly created being captures both the mythical and authentic, one foot in each plane, distorting our grasp as the surreal embraces us.
A strange dance in this world transpires, provoked by the charms of that which we do not understand. Back and forth we follow, trying to keep up as we are lead in a Waltz of the Surreal, where up is down, and the dead come to life, but the living never move. Spinning and contorting, only in our minds, we follow the dancers of this dreamworld until without warning, we are released.
Suddenly as it began, it ends- the obscurity remaining briefly, the moments spent in a world unknown to us before. As the images fade from our memories, life continues as it did before...
Art doesn't need a purpose to be created, sometimes, we just need to create Art."
It's been far too long since I've written any sort of poetry, or created something for no purpose other than the pure desire to feel and create art.
The weather is changing (supposedly...it was 18 degrees when I woke up this morning), and this year, there is more than just warmer days to look forward to with the coming Spring... but I'll save that for another post (...cliffhanger!!! bwahahaha!)!
Stay tuned- the first post of Spring will be up this weekend!
