Recently, I went on a much needed mini vacation (hence the lack of updates!). I decided to stay close to home by vacationing in my own state, which allowed me to see some tourist sites I had never actually been to before, without having to spend a lot of money.
While the first few days were spent on a lake, spending time with family/friends, watching fireworks, playing mini golf, and relaxing near the water, I took a day to travel further north and visit some places in the white mountains.
It also gave me a chance to use my new, very own A7r! I now have two options of lenses since the original A7R that I was sharing is equipped with a 35mm, and we now have a (also new) 90mm macro lens for the second shooter.
Sam and I went up to Franconia Notch and walked the trails for The Flume Gorge. The entire walk was beautiful: there were trees growing out of trees, and roots twisting over and around boulders to find their way back to the earth. Even the weather was perfect for hiking - low 70s with a breeze, and the closer we got to the flume, the cooler it got.
Even the stairway that led up to the top of The Flume was amazing (additionally, it was also a bit nerve racking when tying to walk past anyone else). Once we reached the top, it was time for a photo op at The Bear Cave (because obviously, I'll use any excuse to take ridiculous pictures of myself).
After we finished our hike on The Flume and grabbed a bite to eat, we headed over to The Basin, which was not even 10 minutes down the road. Another beautiful location and nice walk, though the hike at The Basin is much shorter.
The weather managed to hold until we started heading home (after getting some ice cream - because even if its 65 degrees and I'm wearing a sweater, it's July damnit! I WILL have frozen treats, no matter how much I'm shivering!), which pleased me seeing as I had already tried hiking in a downpour once during my vacation...
My only issue (*side note-there were no actual issues...this is just me being me...) during this trip was when I spotted a cluster of foliage starting to turn red in the woods.
While I am ALL about Autumn (like basically every other girl out there...), it is July Mother Nature! I'm just putting it out there that someone may want to tell her to calm down a bit with the season changing stuff - I mean, it just got warm for crying out loud, and I've only gone swimming twice so far this year! Give a girl a chance to shoot some swimsuit looks at the beach before I have to break out the sweaters again...
All joking aside, I truly enjoyed my time away, especially my little tourist excursion. Now that I have my own camera to shoot with, I think I'll be adding a lot more to my blog than just pictures of my face (even if that's really why you're all here...let's be honest). Ideally, I'd like to create more posts like this one from various destinations I visit. Who knows, maybe I'll be helping you guys find your next vacation destination?!
Any suggestions on touristy sites you think I'd enjoy? Feel free to leave your ideas in a comment here or on my Facebook page!
