When I last had my hair done by Tanya Amalfitano, we were discussing how it had been a while since we had worked together on a photoshoot. We also realized I didn't have any recent shots with my bright red hair done in a vintage style. Thus it was decided! We would have to plan a pinup shoot so Tanya could work her retro hair and makeup magic again!
We put a call out over Facebook with our idea for a beach themed pinup shoot, and our need for a photographer. Douglas of daggerSLADE Model Images answered that call (cue superhero theme), and we set up our shoot for this past Friday at the beach.
Douglas and I had actually worked together a few years ago when I helped as a model at a lighting class that he happened to be taking. It was nice to connect again and see how far we had both come since that time.
We made it up to the location around 7pm and knew we wouldn't have a lot of time before we lost our natural light. Personally, I think the hardest part of shooting after a 9-5 job is racing against time for sunlight. Needless to say, we did pretty well considering the time crunch, and even experimented a bit with light painting once the sun did set.
Tanya did an awesome job (as usual) with my hair and makeup for our short adventure. It was a fun day and a great shoot (especially for throwing the idea out to everyone only the week before). I also came to the realization during this shoot (though it's not the first time I've had the thought), that models don't get enough credit for outfit changes in public places...I'll tell ya, it's not easy to go from high-waisted shorts to a one-piece swimsuit while on the beach surrounded by other people, and needing to change quickly/modestly... I should add "ability to change quickly, and discreetly while in public places" to my resume (...not that I have any idea how to apply said skill to any job that isn't modeling...but I digress).
I included some sneak peaks from the shoot to get you guys excited for the gallery page when it goes up! Thanks again for the good times Douglas and Tanya!
Make sure to stay tuned for more images, and check out Douglas' photography page if you haven't already!
