I had the chance to shoot a fun concept with Little Skull Photography on Monday. Now that the weather is getting warm again, I think both the photographer and I were on the same page when it comes to light, flowy dresses and bold colorful jewelry.
I especially love the simplified, more neutral toned makeup and relaxed hairstyles that are associated with the whole boho look. My hair doesn't like to curl without a lot of effort and hairspray, so the mermaid wave hairstyle is much easier for me to accomplish, while still feeling like I have a slight variation from my usual look.
I also learned a few things during this shoot...for example, the dress that I was wearing for one image, I originally put on backwards...multi-function wardrobe! It's like having two dresses for the price of one! The correct way, it looks bohemian, and wearing it backwards, it has a simplified wedding dress look-aaaaamazing! (I've learned a good sense of humor will benefit you greatly in scenarios like this)
Another lesson learned during this shoot-the pretty, tall grass on the side of the road...also known as reeds...tend to grow in nice moist areas...which are also known as swamps. Mmmmmn nice and squishy. I now know for next time not to go running into the reeds like a crazy person after seeing the amount of mud I managed to splash onto the back of my outfit/legs... Oops.
I also learned about something that photographers like to call the "magic hour". It's that ideal moment when the sun is setting that a photographer tries to shoot at. Lucky for us, we managed to find an app that told us exactly what time we would want to start shooting, so we didn't have to continue waiting in that location for 45 minutes. We were able to leave and come back when we (and the sun) were ready to shoot. I have a feeling this app will come in handy for future shoots, both modeling for pictures and taking my own.
All in all, I think a very successful and fun day was had by everyone in involved. Thanks again to Little Skull, I always have a blast with them.
