Bringing the Swan on location
For this year’s month of masquerades, the last costume I revealed, was my version of the “Black Swan”. Not only did I recreate the makeup from the movie, I even wore creepy red contacts.
Photographer and friend Zachary Stone Photography contacted me about the costume after I posted pictures. I love when I have the opportunity to use something I’ve made more than once!
I contacted Tanya Amalfitano to collaborate on the project and do my hair and makeup for the shoot. We decided to shoot in Benson Park, which has some great areas and multiple trails to walk on.
The downside of it being December is that even when it doesn’t look cold out, it’s still cold. Granted, it wasn’t as cold as it could have been, but I did take a few breaks in the sun to warm up. Of course, it might have something to do with the leotard and tutu…
Cold aside, we had a great time shooting! Zack even managed to create a hands-free stand for our reflector during the shoot. I will have to keep it in mind for any of my future location shoots.
Of course, one of my favorite parts was the chance to hang out after. Best done over a bite to eat and a cup of coffee.
