First and foremost, a fantastic effort was put in by all of the ladies who worked on this project!
The photographer and I decided to work off the idea for a 60s styled shoot. Our last retro theme worked so well, it seemed fitting to move forward a decade. We included the MUA from the previous shoot as well, who had some great ideas to really bring us back in time.
Last but not least, I asked my sister-in-law to join our team as wardrobe designer. She has created some truly amazing period clothing in the past. My Marie Antoinette dress is a perfect example of that! I knew whatever she created for this would be just as amazing.
Recreating the 60s
I want to give a shout out to her for creating both outfits within 24 hours from literal scraps. Our first dress started as a literal square of fabric. She pinned it on me and cut holes for my arms and waist. Once it had a shape, she attached some random flower clips to form a “dress”. Even the “nightgown” boa was attached only twenty minutes prior to the shoot.
Our team worked together perfectly. Not only did we create something unique but believable retro, it felt like a total transformation. The black and white image is easily one of my favorite pictures ever. Our final shot looks like it was taken straight off the cover of a 1960’s edition of Vogue.
This is by far one of the strongest images in my portfolio. Thank you for the opportunity to create something so unique ladies!
