To shirt or not to shirt…
We’ve all seen them – the ever popular “Shirt Costume”. While it all started with the “tuxedo” shirt, in recent years, our favorite superheroes and villains have earned their own shirts as well.
So when you don’t know what to wear or don’t have time or energy to put together a costume of epic proportion, you can always fall back on the clever “Shirt costume”. These subtle “costumes” come in handy for a few reasons. First, they’re easy to find. Most clothing stores carry at least one super-hero top. Also, compared to a full costume they’re not very expensive. And on that note, they’re reusable. Not to mention graphic shirts can be worn most every day, unlike a complete costume. Lastly, a shirt can be easily dressed up or down.
Feeling casual? Wear your Princess Leia sweatshirt with the hood up. Costume completed.
Want to add a little extra? Grab some brown boots to compliment your Link sweatshirt and a pair of hoop earrings. If you’re really feeling it swing by the costume store and pick up some elf ears for the final touch!
Have a spare weekend to pull an entire look together? Go thrifting for a pair of colored shorts, headband, and arm guards to match your top. See if you can find a correlating prop in your own home! For the final touch, snag a slice of super cheesy pizza to munch on. Someone might mistake you for an actual Ninja Turtle!
Most importantly, don’t forget to have fun!
