For anyone who has seen New Girl, I hope you love this post!
Whether you’ve seen every episode or naught (Get it? Word jokes people, come on!), this is a fun costume to put together. Especially if you like a more retro style combined with good-ole-fashioned nerdiness!

This costume is also great since it’s not too hard to put something together from your own closet. If you own a pair of flats, tights, some cute shorts, and a sweater (or an a-line knee length dress and cardigan), you’re golden! If you lack her trademark blue eyes (like myself), this is the perfect excuse to break out the contacts again!
To make it more “Jess”, pop on a pair of black framed glasses, and if you don’t already have them, a pair of bangs. They actually sell stand alone bangs on Amazon if you don’t feel like getting an entire wig. Of course, ordering bangs can be tricky, especially when trying to find a hair color to match yours if you dye it frequently (cough cough). The color difference was so drastic on mine, I opted for a $5 wig from goodwill. However, the wig ended up being so knotted, I couldn’t actually brush it. Which meant creating Jess’ cute wavy hairstyle didn’t go entirely as planned. But hey… you can’t be perfect all the time.
Now that you have the costume, all you need is an overly optimistic and slightly quirky attitude (and to sing about everything you’re doing)! And of course the most important part of being New Girl’s Jessica Day: have fun!
