The bond of music
If your favorite song comes on the radio, and you notice a stranger singing along, you feel a connection to them. A bond is formed when you meet someone who knows about an artist you feel passionately about. I felt that connection during my first meeting with Andrew. Though we didn’t discuss our mutual love of Amanda Palmer as a musician and artist until the end of the shoot, one of the first things that came up was music. We listened as Patti Smith helped us to create our first images by “Dancing Barefoot”.
Andrew’s studio work focuses on the individual more than anyone else I’ve worked with. I loved how raw and real his shots feel. I’ve always appreciated the art of light and shadow. It was a very new experience doing implied work without a boudoir set up. But seeing the images after, I realized just how much you can create with light when you know how to use it. It inspired me to take note during my shoots if I’m liking how the lighting looks for my own attempts.
