Untold Stories
For the location of this shoot, we used a beautiful old building in Boston. It was fascinating to learn all the things this building had been used for over the years. For example, one room with a wall length mirror had been a dance studio. Another with a wooden platform and floor to ceiling windows had been a chapel. Even creepier was the room that was a dentist’s office, which still had tools scattered around it.
We set up in the “chapel” to do hair and makeup, provided by the talented MJMUA. From there, we wandered to different areas, exploring each room and the tone it gave. There were so many stories in that building, and I wanted to bring to life what I felt when there.
I felt especially inspired by one room we shot in, with a dark checkerboard floor and cracks in the walls. Even the staircase with marble floors and black wrought iron were beautiful. I could have spent all day wandering each corner of the building. But all good things must come to an end.
While I’m not the biggest fan of traveling into the city, the experience, and images we captured made it all worthwhile.
