This shoot seemed like Deja Vu for me in more than one way. Not only was I shooting on the same exact day, with the same photographer as last year, but the same location we shot in this year. Of course, the location looked very different and was much easier to navigate without two feet of snow while it was raining.
Field
We were able to work in the tall grass and sunlight – a perfect example of November to me. Granted, whenever I’d thought of shooting in a field, I imagined warmth and light all around. Boy was that a total fantasy. I can’t tell you how many times my clothes and hair caught on branches or poky things, preventing me from moving any further until I untangled myself.
Another thing I never realized – those tall plants love the marshy ground. So you have to keep an eye out if you don’t want a boot full of mud/water. It was still a blast, and totally worth it though. My mother was kind enough to let me borrow some of her clothes and jewelry – perfect with that scenery.
Forest
This shoot was my first time wearing designs by Candice Wu. Let me tell you, the “flow factor” on the first dress I wore was magnificent. For the second time in one day, I found myself climbing a tree. We had to work quickly because our light was running out, but the trees made an amazing backdrop.
Our last set was working within the archways. Once the sun dropped however, it was apparent that we were shooting in November as the cold crept back in. Regardless of the cold, it felt like the shoot went by in a moment – the sign of a great day.
I was able to take a quick behind the scenes shot of Meg Shaw and Dan working on the tree before we left for the day. Such a memorable experience!
