Not only was this my first beach shoot, but first Summer shoot with Dan Minicucci Photography. Since I’ve already shot every other season with him at least once so far, it was too good to pass up.
Isabel Original International
I had the privilege of wearing clothes by Isabel Original International. One dress was so unique we shot it twice during the day. Partly because of its beauty and flow in differing backgrounds… and partly because I realized I may have put it on backward the first round. It looked so good either way though, I wanted to show how diverse it is! The straps from the back fit perfectly across the front for those with a small bust. It creates a unique neckline. I felt like a Greek goddess. Aside from being such a soft material, it was light and airy as well. Which was perfect for such a hot day.
Red Dress Revelation
I had a revelation after this shoot – I’m drawn to red dresses. I’ve found that every time we shoot, we manage to find a red dress. They always look so dynamic in every setting! Whether it’s against a carousel, in the snow, on a sand dune, or against the trees, I can’t help but want to wear one each time!
Sun and Sand
The day had been so hot that I was ecstatic to stick my feet in the water as the sun was going down. I will say that I’m glad we did this look last- it allowed me to get my hair wet without worrying about needing to do any touch ups for a different look, and cool down on my ride home after a long day of shooting. These images may be some of my favorite summer looks out of anything we have done to date. I’m now challenged to do even better next time I go on a beach location shoot!
PSA
And lastly, as a warning to anyone going out during summer/fall…even if you are going to the beach…if you walk through ANY grass…check yourself for ticks. I managed to find 3 when I got home that night. Two stowaways in my backpack, and one on my leg – which I pried off before analyzing briefly, and killed with the anger of a woman scorned …or…bitten.
I’d like to thank Jill Dean for doing a beautiful job on my makeup. I’d also like to thank Isabel Original International for allowing me to wear your clothing while frolicking through the sand. And of course, my photographer Dan Minicucci. If there was a prize for shooting in every season, you would earn it my friend!
